Our Story
Founded on November 1, 1999, West End Auto Works began when Carlos Karas and his son-in-law, Petros Skoumpourdis, brought their extensive automotive expertise from the Greek island of Leros to Southwest Houston. Tired of working for big auto corporations, Carlos and Petros combined their knowledge, passion for customer service, and commitment to honesty to serve their new community. Carlos took on the role of customer service expert, while Petros managed day-to-day operations.

For nearly 25 years, our motto, “Small enough to know you, big enough to serve you,” has shaped how we do business. We believe in transparency, honesty, and straightforward diagnostics, ensuring that customers receive fair prices, quick repairs, and guaranteed work. Our dedication has built a loyal customer base—some even drive from Conroe to see us—thanks to our dependable, no-nonsense approach.

West End Auto Works has remained family-owned and operated, with Petros keeping a close watch over operations since day one. With his background working in Houston’s network of Greek-owned repair shops, Petros rose through the ranks from maintenance to top service adviser, driven by a commitment to solving customers’ automotive problems. Our team includes skilled technicians and dedicated staff like John Fairchild, who, as service advisor and shop manager, brings a smile and a cup of coffee to every customer interaction.

West End Auto Works has always been a family affair. Petros’s family is close-knit, gathering for weekly dinners to cook, share a meal, and catch up on each other’s lives. Over the years, this shop has supported two generations—from putting children through private school to university—while meeting the needs of the entire family. For us, being a “family business” is more than a title; it’s the backbone of our lives. Meet Petros
In his spare time, Petros enjoys visiting Greece, playing guitar, experimenting with grilling and smoking techniques, and watching Greek soccer and basketball. Family, community, and church are at the heart of everything we do at West End Auto Works, and we look forward to serving you for years to come.
